When the merging of Uber and Didi was confirmed on August 1, Uber users knew it wouldn’t be long before some big changes happened with the app. It was later revealed on November 27 that the Uber China app officially stopped its service and was replaced by a new version, which can’t be used by English-speaker or foreigners without a Chinese ID number. The English interface and international credit card payment method were also eliminated. The new app will not work outside of China, as well. All Uber drivers will be transferred to the Didi drivers’ interface and can take orders from both companies.
